Osborne signed Spring game Huskers Illustrated. In 1988 Tyreese Knox and Leodis Flowers among others waged a battle for starting I Back behind dynamic All American QB Steve Taylor. Later in the year, the highly ranked Huskers running game stubbed their toe at Troy Aikman's senior party in Pasedena, and then fought undefeated the rest of the way to the old Orange Bowl only to fall to the Hurricanes on a sultry Miami night.
